Official Description
Come join us in Appalachia! This is a family fun event based in history and fantasy. Costumes are not restricted to historical, but includes fantasy like fairies, goblins, pirates and more. Costumes are requested to be modest as it is a family-oriented event. We'll be celebrating the region's rich Celtic culture and Appalachian heritage, along with all of the typical renaissance faire fun, featuring jousting, pirates, fairies, live music, highland games, performers, food, entertainment, libations, vendors, children's area and more!
OUR STORYLINE: Takes place deep in Appalachia, where 81,000 Scottish Lowlanders and some English migrated for the opportunity to reestablish themselves and their families in a new land. In typical RenFaire tradition, ARFT will weave a historical fiction branching off of a single premise: what if Mary Queen of Scots gave birth to twins that were then sent into hiding with her cousin, Mary Fraser, to the New World? Our storyline is unique in that it is based on the strong roots put down by the Scots-Irish, which still hold the mountains today.
