The Dublin Irish Festival is a Celtic and Irish cultural festival which is stated to be the largest three day Irish Festival on the planet. Activities include Irish and other Celtic music, genealogy, food and drink, shopping, dance, cultural exhibits, games, sports, arts and crafts, and children's activities. Food and drink includes beverage and beer tasting. A variety of food is present including food trucks and traditional food. There are various displays and demonstrations regarding Irish history and traditions, visiting Celtic canines, as well as storytelling and musical instruments. The Columbus Feis, an internationally renowned Irish dance competition, occurs every year at the same time as the Irish Festival. The festival includes the Highland Heavyweight Games (caber toss, stone put, weight throw, weight-over-bar, sheaf toss and hammer toss), a bagpipe showcase, and other activities such as cornhole and darts. Additional attractions include sand sculptures, shopping vendors, and the Gathering of the Redheads. There is a 5K run, and children’s fun run. There are rides, contests, dance lessons, Gaelic games, arts and crafts, face painting, storytelling, magicians, and more for children. Events include the opportunity to take classes on Irish culture prior to the festival, demonstrations, storytelling, and talks, concerts and bands, and on Sunday, various masses.
