Tybee Island Pirate Fest began in 2005 with a few locals searching for an event to highlight the unique personality of the island. Following an enormous number of hours, blood, sweat, and tears the first Pirate Fest took to the streets of Tybee. The first year far surpassed the expectations of its organizers, a non-profit called TybeeFest. With the support of many dedicated volunteers, The City of Tybee Island, and local businesses, the event has grown each year. Pirate enthusiasts travel from across the country to visit our charming island as it transforms into pirate village every Columbus Day weekend.
Our Pirate Fest blankets the downtown area to highlight the local shops and restaurants while showcasing our beautiful beach and pier. Visitors are invited to escape the ordinary, if only for a weekend.
